The performing arts are those forms of art which differ from the plastic arts insofar as the former uses the artist's own body, face, and presence as a medium, and the latter uses materials such as clay, metal or paint which can be molded or transformed to create some physical art object. However, they are extremely difficult to get into without a lot of prior experience and/or training and they generally don't take people who have just graduated from school. And that's the ones who actually live in Australia. I don't know how difficult it would be to get in from overseas, but my guess is just as hard. However, there are also other universities and TAFEs (a TAFE is a practical university, like for hairdressers and plumbers, etc.) that offer courses here in acting. They are infinitely easier to get into and generally offer much the same things.
