How do I safely pack DVDs and electronic equipment so that heat won't affect them?
Q. I'm planning on moving in August and in an attempt to save some money, I was planning on shipping my things to my new apartment. I'm concerned that my DVDs and game consoles won't be safe in the heat if they are just packed into boxes. So I'm wondering if there's anything I could line the boxes with to keep them safe.

A. Styrofoam is an excellent insulator against the heat. Check out what may be available at your local grocers, possibly for free even. When we travelled from North Queensland to Victoria, Australia (4 days trave I for me) I was concerned for our pet mouse when we parked the car (air-conditioned). What I did was obtain a broccoli styrofoam box (and lid) from the local grocer which just happened to be the right size for his cage and he travelled inside that. Every afternoon when we stopped at a motel I just took it out of that box. He was quite fine after all that travel and lived quite a good long life. Perhaps you could even ask about at whitegoods stores also to see what packaging materials they throw away - styrofoam is not recyclable as… [cont.]

How come DVDs cant all be region free, Why do they have to be seperated into different regions?
Q. I have seen DVDs that are region free and to me they are as good quality than the DVDs that have regions to them.
Asked by fullpintlight - Thu Apr 10 18:03:23 2008 - Other - Electronics - 1 Answers - Comments
A. Region is dictated by the movie studios. For example, they may want to delay introducing a movie in Europe, compared to the US or vice versa. It allows them to charge differently each region as well. (For example, they may charge India far less than the US, but they don't want India DVDs to flood the US market.)

A. It could be the post office. In a meeting last week they were talking about how they found out that some of the machines the post office uses to sort mail have been damaging the discs. They've told the post office about it and supposedly they're working to change it.

Once you find a file type you like with audio output settings, you can save that profile and simply make copies of movies for your hard drive from the dvd's with one click. You can't burn all dvd's to your hd because of protections they place on the dvd's with this software, but I would say 96% or more are burnable with the software. Generally the older dvd's have more protection. I'm not saying its the best software out there, but it is the best one that I have found. Q. How do i transfer the files from the mini DVDs into windows movie maker? What software do i have to use?
Asked by ilovedavidcook333 - Sun Aug 23 20:29:14 2009 - Camcorders - 2 Answers - Comments
A. If you have a mini dvd camcorder . You will have to finalize your dvd in the camera and then put the dvd in your computer's DVD burner (top loading only) and then you will have to convert the files (I downloaded file converter free) and import them into your editing program. Use the HELP feature in your editing program to learn about editing. Usually you would import your videos and drop them in to the timeline, add transitions, menus, music, etc. Once you are ready to burn, your project will be burned to a different DVD and you can file the original away.

If I burn DVDs and CDs at lower speeds, will the quality be better than at high speeds?
Q. I have been told that when I copy CDs and DVDs it is best to do so at low speeds. Friends have said the quality is always better if low burning speeds are used. Is that right? But, if low speeds really do give better quality, I would be happy to wait a bit longer for the burning process to be carried out. Could someone please help out? Thanks!
